The 2016 METSTRADE show in Amsterdam proved to be the most successful year to date. METS took place over November 15—17 where over 15,500 visitors walked through the doors, which was an 8% improvement on figures from 2015.
Exhibitors from over 50 countries were represented by the 265 exhibitors this year. Exhibitors and companies are grouped together according to their country of origins, so FUSION was present in the New Zealand section due to our Kiwi roots.
The prestigious DAME awards took place on the first morning of the show. The new FUSION StereoActive was a nominee in the category of marine electronics – the category with the most nominees. This goes to show the increasingly high caliber of products and innovations being presented at the DAME awards. You can see all the winners here.
The METS Innovation hub showcased all the DAME award nominees. StereoActive, the world’s first portable floating watersports stereo, was presented on our new display stand and was certainly the only product of its kind among the nominees. METS also features industry talks on the latest innovations, trends, research and skills within the marine industry. Winners of the DAME Awards and Boat Builders Awards also did presentations.
Each year FUSION is a key sponsor of the Boat Builder’s Awards and we’re very proud to support, invest in and recognize key builders in the industry. These awards celebrate marine business achievements, including the business areas of retail marketing, manufacturing and production processes.
This year it was held at the historic Maritime Museum and featured an array of performances from Salsa dancing, to lightshows and everything in-between. The awards introduced two new categories, the Sustainability Award and the Apprenticeship Award. These new categories give an insight in to the direction and future of the marine industry - we will leave that with you to ponder on.
We’re also proud to report that the FUSION stand was swamped with visitors over the 3 days at METS – even though we had the largest stand we’ve ever presented at a trade show! This spanned a massive 16 meters and even included a meeting room attached.
As well as showcasing the new StereoActive, we also previewed our brand new product display, which features new products that will hit shelves in 2017.
This includes our new range of Signature Series amplifiers and our new innovation in audio entertainment, the Sound Panel. A real stand-out to visitors, the Sound Panel houses two 4” shallow mount speakers with a max of 200 Watts, tweeters and passive radiator. Optional accessories for the Sound Panel are 3 different sized mounting spacers - so you can mount your speaker at a depth most suitable to the space available on your vessel.
We’re looking forward to next year where we hope to present even more exciting innovations to the industry.
