New Zealand’s longest-running and largest boat show, the Hutchwilco Boat Show, took place from the 17th to 21st May, 2018. Held at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland, it featured an impressively wide range of the latest boats, engines, electronics, fishing gear, diving gear and marine accessories available in New Zealand, with an outstanding number of trailer boats on display.

Fusion unveiled the revolutionary Apollo Series to the New Zealand market at the show, supported by the new all-in-one audio entertainment solution, the Panel-Stereo, and a recent upgrade of the existing Signature Series speakers with enhanced acoustics and stylish new grilles. With plenty of products to show off, our sales team were certainly kept busy on their feet for the whole weekend!

Fusion also had a strong presence all the way around the show, especially with the all-new Apollo RA770 featuring on more than 20 boats! This was certainly a great achievement from the NZ team with such a new product, highlighting the effort put in all-around to introduce the Apollo Series with a hiss and a roar!

Simon Batey, Fusion’s NZ Sales Manager, said “the Hutchwilco Boat Show was a standout show with another level of quality shown by the New Zealand boat building industry. The boats looked great, the customers were awesome, and having the new Apollo Series on hand to demonstrate topped it off. Not only did the Fusion stand have Apollo, but the Apollo stereo was proudly showcased on over 20 boats with every manufacturer giving positive feedback.”

A standout aspect of the Apollo Series for our customers was the glass touchscreen on the RA770. No other marine stereo has had a touchscreen – until now. Providing a seamless transition between touchscreen MFDs, phones and tablets that customers are already using, it makes sense for the stereo to feature the same functionality.

The highly anticipated Altus Innovation Awards took place on the Saturday night, which were judged by an expert panel led by the editor and publisher of boatmags.com, Barry Thompson. The judges all thought that this year’s exhibitors offered a wide range of impressively innovative entrants, especially from the marine electronics and outboard sectors.

Fusion is proud to announce that the new Apollo RA770 marine stereo took out the ‘Most Innovative Local Product’ prize against some entrants of very high calibre! The judges were impressed with the many ‘world-firsts’ that the Apollo RA770 has to offer, along with its unique design and PartyBus functionality. It is a well-deserved outcome for the whole team, who has worked tirelessly from the start to launch such an innovative stereo.

Mercury V8 Outboard Motors won the prize for the Most Innovative International Product – congratulations to the team at Mercury! Incorporating a number of unique features, including Advanced Mid-Section, Active Auto Trim and a unique (and patented) Mercury innovation that provides automatic fore/aft trim and therefore fuel savings, these new motors are also lighter, faster and make ideal replacements for existing equivalent 2-Stroke outboards.

Congratulations are also in order for the crew at Garmin, who took out the Best Commercial Stand award – which, after venturing over to their booth, was obvious why!

The 2018 Hutchwilco Boat Show was a huge success overall for the team at Fusion. It was a great feeling to launch the Apollo Series to our home market, which was made even better with the innovation award win.

Bring on the 2019 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show… we can’t wait to see what new products will be ready for you all next year!
